CONFERENCE

There will be a lot happening in the woodfibre trade industry between our last conference and late 2014, with major changes expected in:

  • The Asian woodchip markets and in Pacific Rim suppliers,
  • Increased competition for woodfibre in Europe,
  • Huge surge in US South and Canada East Coast woodpellet production,
  • New developments in Asian biomass markets, and other interesting subjects.

We are developing a program of topics and speakers for the conference.

FIELD TRIP

The event will be followed by a field trip to the Conception area, about one hour by plane from Santiago. The region is very rich in visit opportunities, including:

  • Radiata pine
  • Eucalyptus globulus and Eucalyptus nitens plantations
  • Several woodchip exporting facilities
  • Biomass users and dedicated biomass crops
  • Sawmills
  • Plywood, pulp and paper mills.

We are planning a very busy, varied and productive two day field trip.

    VijaChip to provide outlook on Vietnam woodchip export supply

    The conference coordinators are pleased to announce that Mr. Shunji Sakamoto of Sojitz Corporation will give the presentation on Vietnam woodchip supply outlook at the 7th International Woodfibre Resources and Trade Conference in Santiago. In 2013, Vietnam was the largest supplier of hardwood chips to the Asian markets, exporting a record 7.4 million BDMT. The Sojitz subsidiary in Vietnam, VijaChip, is one of the largest woodchip exporter from that country, and has been instrumental in developing this woodchip export powerhouse.
